Tips, achievements & lore

Win cleaner, chase the 15 achievements, then look past the gore. The final sequence and grain-field anomaly suggest the party is only one layer of a much larger simulation.

General survival

Win more rounds

  • Spend the briefing time planning. Find the kill zone, the safe zone, and the one input that changes the round before looking at other players.
  • Let rivals reveal the mechanic. In memory, minefield, and platform trials, the first person to move often gives everyone else free information.
  • Preserve space. Stable Footing and Debris Platforms reward routes that leave an escape angle instead of the shortest direct line.
  • Watch hands, not faces. In assembly and timing games, animation state tells you who is nearly finished and therefore who is dangerous.
  • Use voice chat carefully. A confident false call can be stronger than mechanical skill in hidden-role rounds.

Trial tactics

Specific edges

Firearm Factory

Learn the shape of each component before trying to be fast. If another player assembles first, do not freeze: the “Quick draw!” achievement proves a finished weapon does not guarantee safety.

Spinebreaker

Pass early until the group’s rhythm becomes predictable. A last-second throw is powerful, but network delay makes the under-one-second achievement safer when you are hosting.

Stable Footing

Move around the outer edge only while exits remain. Crossing behind another player encourages them to cut off your return path. For “Mind the gap,” survival matters more than eliminating anyone.

Minefield

For a normal win, use sonar deliberately and remember the safe sequence. “Leg it!” requires a no-sonar completion, so practice a route with cooperative friends before attempting it in a hostile lobby.

Forklift Certified

Deposit early instead of driving with a full route planned. For “Mine. All mine!” you need four crates in your area at once; defend the fourth approach rather than chasing a fifth.

Table Manners

Keep your hand relaxed and focus on clean input alternation. “Gluttony” requires a sub-20-second finish, so one missed prompt hurts more than slightly slower tapping.

Hidden challenges

Achievement routes

Machine Party has 15 Steam achievements. Most are disclosed rather than truly secret, but several ask you to play against the normal objective:

  • Quick draw! Kill a player who assembled a gun before you in Firearm Factory.
  • Dodge this! Throw the Spinebreaker device with less than one second remaining.
  • Stairmaster. Take 50 correct Wrong Way steps in succession.
  • Flourished Memories. Survive until the maximum cube segments are removed in Chisel Gauntlet.
  • Leg it! Finish the minefield without sonar.
  • Will it blend? Push 15 subjects into Lethal Rebound’s hacksaws across matches.

The full set is listed on the Steam achievement page.

Major ending spoilers

The Tartarus Engine connection

Interpretation, not confirmed canon: The following is based on the launch ending and early community analysis. The developers have not published a definitive timeline.

The closing material identifies the games as simulations rather than isolated physical executions. SENTINEL reports foreign modifications and a preset that does not match KETAS protocol, while the instruction to stand by for the next pool implies the subjects can be loaded into repeated environments.

Those terms connect naturally to Tartarus Engine and s.p.l.i.t, where KETAS technology can construct or police simulated realities. The safest reading is that Machine Party runs inside an Engine-compatible preset. Whether this is the same physical Tartarus Engine, a later system, or a parallel installation remains unknown.

The grain-field house

Players report a field sequence where errors appear in the upper-left corner. Approaching the distant house can reveal a silhouette, a closing door, and extinguished lights. That behavior supports the idea of a foreign or overlapping preset: someone may be modifying the party environment, or the subjects may have briefly entered another simulation.

What SENTINEL might be

SENTINEL may be a security process monitoring preset integrity rather than the machine itself. Its language treats the strange material as an unauthorized modification. Community theories range from an outside rescue attempt to a KETAS-controlled entertainment program for prisoners. None is confirmed yet.

Lore discussion draws on the game’s launch ending and early community analysis. Theories are kept separate from verified on-screen text.
